The Lingering Impact of the Past
More than 40 years have passed since the Khmer Rouge era, yet its painful legacy continues to shape the lives of Cambodians today. Trauma often shows up not only in memories but in family conflict, emotional suppression, and cycles of violence, passed from one generation to the next.
Mission Dove Cambodia is committed to breaking this cycle by walking alongside young people who are longing for healing, belonging, and renewed purpose in Christ.

Faithwalking: Growing Emotionally Healthy Young Leaders
Faithwalking is one of our core programs, a transformational spiritual formation journey designed to help individuals:
• Heal from past trauma
• Grow in emotional and spiritual maturity
• Discover their identity in Christ
• Live courageously in God’s mission
When pain remains unspoken and unhealed, it often becomes a barrier to discipleship. Faithwalking helps young Cambodians face their wounds with honesty and grace so they can follow Jesus with greater freedom and a whole heart.
We are praying for a future where churches across Cambodia are led by a generation of emotionally healthy, compassionate, and spiritually mature young leaders who bring healing into their communities.
A Student Story: Sinat’s Journey from Brokenness to Belonging

Sinat grew up in Preah Vihear Province, a long way from Phnom Penh, as the second of four siblings. On the outside, she was known as a responsible and caring young woman. She served in ministry as a dormitory supporter, helping students who moved to the city for their studies, listening, guiding, and encouraging them in their daily challenges.
But inside, she carried hidden burdens, guilt, family conflict, and the constant pressure of feeling “not enough.” She believed in Jesus and worked hard to help others, yet she struggled to find peace within herself.
During her time supporting the dorm, she often heard testimonies from students who had participated in Mission Dove’s programs. They spoke about deep healing, confidence, restored relationships, and newfound purpose.
Their stories made her wonder: “ How are they being transformed like that?”
She noticed that her dorm leaders consistently encouraged students to join Mission Dove, which stirred a growing curiosity in her own heart. So, she finally decided to join.
“From the first day, I realized something beautiful: I was not alone. Others were also carrying wounds like mine. The retreat helped me slow down, reflect, and open my heart in a safe place.”
Then came her hardest season.
In 2023 and 2024, she lost both of her parents, and she experienced grief that shook her foundation. “It felt like the world lost its colour. I didn’t know how to continue.” Since I was young, I always tried my best in everything because I wanted to see my parents happy more than anything. But in the end… is this the result I hoped for? I believed that no one would ever be able to help or heal me.
When I came to know Dove and Faithwalking program as a loving Christian community, I began to experience God’s healing presence in a new way. I am learning to forgive, embrace my pain, believe that God still has a purpose for my life, and I hope my pain can become a testimony of healing for others who feel as colourless and hopeless as I once did.
I realized that I cannot live life alone, and I can’t save myself in this difficult time. I need God and I value being part of a church and a community. I want to take part in God’s mission and contribute to a community where we support one another, sharing both joy and sadness. I always share about my Faithwalking journey as it helped me by providing a safe community, self-awareness, and forgiveness, and I have learned to see myself as authentic and healthy. I want the people I love to experience the same transformation and healing that I have received through Faithwalking.
Today, Sinat stands with renewed strength, hope, and identity — eager to support young people just as God has supported her.
